Cypress Sun Fields and Flower Valley, a Contemporary Landscape Painting by David Wasko, Oil on Canvas. The Sun Radiates the Whole Sky as Seen by The Gigantic Cypress Trees Moving with the Sun’s Rays and Influencing the Lush Valley of Flowers with Splashes of Yellow, Blue, Purple, Green, Pink. The Last two pictures were taken with the Flash on to show the rich colors. This is the second painting in the flat brush series. All of my paintings are places in my mind, where I would want to be so I do not paint a landscape that I am visually looking at or plein air paint nor do I paint from images and all of my paintings are painted in my outside studio. This painting was painted in my unheated studio, with the door open and snow blowing inside. The painting took a long time to complete, 7 days at 14-16 hours a day out in the cold and it was 15 to 18 degrees outside that whole week so it was cold and I was hoping the paints wouldn’t freeze but that makes the painting that much more intense. The actual painting is so bright and intense, probably five times more than this image. The one thing that I like about this painting is that you can actually feel the sun and rays when you look at it, it’s like walking outside on a sunny spring day after a long winter season.
